A TRADITIONAL festival is being revived in Warrington in time for Christmas.
The ancient St Andrew’s Fair was a major date in the town’s calendar but the festival, which included market stalls, livestock, and circus and street performers, has not been held for more than 100 years.
Now the event is making a comeback next Saturday, December 1 where a town crier will be leading the call for a range of festivities on Bridge Street and Market Gate where you will find modern day colourful markets, circus and street performances.
Clr Mike Hannon, deputy leader of the council, said: "Being able to provide a festive link between our past and present and celebrate Christmas in the same way our ancestors did all those centuries ago is something to be cherished and enjoyed.”
It runs between 10am and 4pm.
