THE ladies enjoyed a fun evening when Merron Mitchell, ably assisted by Linda Field, officiated at their members night meeting in October.

The theme for the event was The War Years, commemorating both WW1 and WW11 and singer Sarah Chidlow from Birkenhead Operatic Society was the cabaret.

Sarah was kitted out in WW11 army uniform and sang songs from both eras and members enjoyed singing along to many old favourites.

A quiz had been organised relating to the evenings theme, as were the snacks provided, along with tots of sherry, which probably enhanced members rousing rendition of Land of Hope and Glory!

Merron read out a quote by Winston Churchill – “I could not live without champagne – in victory I deserve it – in defeat I need it”, which brought the evening to an amusing conclusion.

President Doreen Clare thanked Merron, Linda and helpers for a thoroughly enjoyable meeting.
