OUR March speaker was Karen Concoran, The Lady Policeman.

She was the first woman mounted police officer outside of the Metropolitan Police force, working her way up to training horses to attend football matches, parades and protest marches.

She started in 1975 when no safety clothing was provided for men or women and retired in 2003 when safety equipment was provided for riders and horses.

On the 3rd March six new members were welcomed by committee members at an afternoon getting to know you tea party.

The walking group got nice and muddy along the tow path at Walton on their way to the Walton Hall Gardens. This allowed them to see the temporary buildings and walls being built by the BBC for the film about Chester Zoo's early days.
