Inbetweeners star James Buckley is rumoured to have landed his first big US film role alongside Transformers star Shia LaBeouf and Ides Of March actress Evan Rachel Wood.

The UK actor, who found fame playing Jay Cartwright in the hit teen comedy, will play a Canadian backpacker in The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman, The Sun reports.

The film is about a young man (Shia) who falls for a woman (Evan) claimed by a violent crime boss, and will also star Oscar-winning The Fighter actress Melissa Leo.

James - who also starred in the big screen version of The Inbetweeners - became a dad last October after his fiancee Clair Meek gave birth to a baby boy, Harrison.
