MUSIC fans who grew up in the 80s will be wondering where all the years went when they celebrate the 30th anniversary of a number one album.

Johnny Hates Jazz will be visiting Parr Hall on December 5 when they will play Turn Back the Clock in full.

Clark Datchler and Mike Nocito made their mark on the music scene in 1987 during the electronic pop and New Romantics era with the single Shattered Dreams which reached number two in the US charts.

It was followed by other hits including the anti-war anthem I Don’t Want to be a Hero, Turn Back the Clock, featuring Kim Wilde, and Heart of Gold.

Their debut album went double-platinum selling four million copies in the process.

It became one of only two debut albums released by Virgin Records that immediately went to the top of the charts upon its release – the other being Never Mind the B*****ks by The Sex Pistols.

The band went their separate ways shortly afterwards but in 2010 original members Clark Datchler and Mike Nocito decided to come back together to write, record and produce a new Johnny Hates Jazz album called Magnetized.

Unfortunately, Clark collapsed in London shortly afterwards due to a stomach tumour.

But after treatment he regained his strength and performed again at festivals in the UK, Europe and Asia last year. During this time Clark also joined forces with Genesis member Mike Rutherford to co-write the new Mike and The Mechanics album Let Me Fly.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am. Visit pyramidparrhall.com or call the box office on 442345.
