A CONCERT by candlelight will be held at the historic Cairo Street Unitarian Chapel to raise funds for the Room at the Inn homeless shelter project.

Flutiful, Cheshire's only flute quartet, will be joined by Manchester University music school graduates Philip O’Connor and BBC service singer Leonie Maxwell, who are both from Wells Cathedral Choir, on Saturday, November 29.

Mulled wine will be served during the intermission and there will also be a fireworks display.

The classical concert is being organised to raise funds for Room at the Inn, a project run by the YMCA which offers overnight shelter to rough sleepers.

There is a shelter in Winmarleigh Street in the former Magistrates Court building.

The festive event has also been organised to raise the profile of the ancient chapel in Cairo Street which was built in 1724 and is one of the oldest houses of worship in Warrington.

Some prominent Unitarians associated with Cairo Street Chapel include Frederick Monks, who gave Warrington the Golden Gates, Elizabeth Gaskell's father William, Joseph Priestley, who Priestley College is named after, and John Seddon, founder of Warrington Academy.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s. Call 07768740382 or email tickets@chapelconcert.com
