INDIE rock band Project Number 1, are a five-piece group based in Latchford, and are looking to headline yet another gig in 2013.

The band formed 10 years ago under the name The Watershed, but, due to a band in America using the same name, they were forced to change it at the beginning of this year to Project Number 1.

The four original members of the band are lead vocalist Adam Paget, age 27, guitarist Phil Gallagher, age 30, bassist David Seed, age 26 and drummer Anthony Whelan, age 25.

Guitarist Richard Sixsmith, age 23, is the newest member, having been recruited by the band in December 2012 to take them into a heavier sounding direction.

Richard said: “We draw a lot of musical influence from bands like Manic Street Preachers, The Pixies and indie rock bands from the late 80s.

“Our music covers many aspects of life such as politics, religion and how people think and feel about certain things.”

Having already played at the Manchester Academy as the headline act in February of this year, they are looking to get on stage as much as possible.

Richard said: “We are looking to play more gigs in Manchester this year, hopefully at the Night and Day venue.

“The band would love to have a spot at the festival in Warrington, as we haven’t had a chance to play in front of all our local fans yet.

“We are hoping to gain more exposure from the competition and just have another chance to play our music live.”
