THE North West Guitar Show celebrates its 20th year at Haydock Park on Sunday.

Cinnamon Brow husband and wife team Peter and Gail Hoarty run the event which will be the biggest yet with more than 120 dealers, exhibitors, specialists and private collectors.

Peter has played in bands in the Warrington area for most of his life, most recently with Wire County, a six-piece country rock band.

The 66-year-old got the idea to start a guitar show when his collection of around 50 1960s valve amplifiers and numerous guitars began to take over his house.

This year’s line-up includes prog-rock virtuosos, Iridium 77, Chris Walton and the Forgotten Sons and folk duo The Huers which fans can see in a 400-seat music hall.

PMT (Professional Music Technology) will be presenting a guitar masterclass with Alex Hutchings and Roland Boss products.

And cigar box guitar specialist Chickenbone John will be overseeing a cigar box guitar masterclass and giving a performance of his unique blues guitar stylings.

n The North West Guitar Show is on Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is £8 on the door.
