Mordheim: City of the Damned (PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

MORDHEIM is developer Rogue Factor’s console version of the PC adaptation of Games Workshop’s Warhammer tabletop game – and it could be best described as hardcore.

It is a turn-based strategy roleplaying game that I unfortunately found frustrating and slow-paced with repetitive combat.

It is not all bad though, the visuals are quite good and the game does have a nicely polished and well produced feel to it.

The game itself takes place in the once wealthy city of Mordheim, that has been devastated by a comet.

This comet has also deposited chunks of a chaos mineral called wyrdstone all around the city.

You play the leader of a 'warband', which consists of a mixture of heroes, archers and heavyweights, looking for as much of this resource as possible.

The missions consist of battling against another warband along with the usual array of side missions which usually involve grabbing a load of wrydstone or stealing a certain artefact.

The combat in the game is played by casting a virtual dice but I found this rather slow and cumbersome and sometimes you have to wait too long, in my opinion, for the opponent's move.

On the whole, I found the game to be rather dull, with repetitive missions and slow gameplay.

And while I think that Warhammer fans are going to love it, you will need a certain level of patience and persistence to stick with the game, that unfortunately, I do not have.
