NEW Order have announced a major outdoor hometown show.

The electronic dance music band will play at Manchester's Castlefield Bowl on Saturday, July 9.

It follows a headline tour across Europe in November and December 2015 which included two sold out shows at The Warehouse Project.

Last year, the veterans of the Manchester scene also released Music Complete, the five-piece's first studio album in more than a decade, featuring singles Restless and live favourite Tutti Frutti.

New Order formed in 1980 when the remaining members of Joy Division got back together after the death of singer Ian Curtis.

Despite initially being overshadowed by Joy Division's legacy, the band's success saw their 1983 track Blue Monday become the best-selling 12-inch single of all time.

They were also the flagship band for Manchester independent label, Factory Records.

New Order's place in music history was also celebrated in 2015 when Singularity, was launched.

The website collates homages to the band from a diverse range of artists and writers including Hot Chip, Irvine Welsh and Robert Smith from The Cure.

New Order’s appearance at Castlefield Bowl follows a host of other sold out shows over the years including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Charlatans, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, Paolo Nutini, James, Pixies and The Courteeners.
