LIFE Is Strange is effectively a different game for everyone who plays it – and that is what makes it so special.

The title, by French developer Dontnod Entertainment, is about choices and consequences with many different outcomes depending on your decisions and how you play.

It focuses on Max Caulfield, a photography student in a prestigious academy who discovers that she can reverse time after having a premonition about a devastating tornado.

Also key to the story is the search for missing student Rachel Amber with a big revelation in this episode – the fourth of a five-part series.

Now coming towards its conclusion, Dark Room sees all your decisions and actions in the previous episodes coming into play.

Who you have spoken to, friends and enemies made, your response to moral quandaries, secrets kept and even things you may have missed – they all have an impact.

The only downside is the dodgy dialogue but the whole thing plays out like a metaphor for the challenges of growing up.

And from the light touches of everyday student life to the dark 'end of the world' tone it really makes you think about the choices you have made.

This is interactive and dynamic storytelling at its best which is likely to be adopted in games in the future.
