A NEW children's festival launches at Tatton Park over the bank holiday weekend.

CBeebies characters, an adventure park with a zip-line, a pop-up petting farm and circus workshops are among the attractions at Geronimo.

The festival is aimed at families with children under 12 and is the first of its kind.

Meanwhile, the Manchester School of Samba who will be holding workshops and leading a procession at 4.30pm each day at the festival.

Manchester School of Samba, the first samba school in the north west, focus on Brazilian carnival art forms and will be teaching rhythm and dance from different parts of Brazil to all ages.

CBeebies favourites including Cook and Line from Swashbuckle, Mr Bloom, Katy Ashworth and Alex Winters will be jumping from screen to stage to entertain families live.

But also expect a strange theatre experience – inside the belly of a pig.

'Pig' is an installation featuring a 9m long sleeping sow in a pen.

'Geronimites' can see her snuffling, opening and closing her eyes, and hear her snoring while a farm-hand invites 10 people at a time into the pen to take a peek at an unexpected performance.

The 'adrenaline zone' will challenge even the bravest adventurers with tree climbing, den making and a zip line.

There will be aerial trapeze artists and clowns in the 'circus zone' complete with a circus skills workshop.

Creative kids can join in craft workshops in the 'funky junk zone' while the 'groovy zone' offers zumba, dance classes and Geronimo’s disco.

Legoland Discovery Centre will have a master model build workshop and Sea Life will be bringing a touch pool where festival-goers can get up close with sea creatures.

In the 3ft and under zone, Tumble Tots will be offering taster sessions for children from walking to five.

As well as soft play there will be a pop-up petting farm, donkey rides and a bouncy inflatable village.

For those looking for an escape from the mayhem there is also interactive storytelling, baby massage and baby yoga.
