BRAZILIAN drummers, samba dancers and a capoeira display will bring Palmyra Square to life on Saturday as part of a celebration of the Cultural Quarter.

The Institution Bar is hosting a Brazilian Carnival inspired by the world famous Rio Carnival.

Rio's first festivals date back to 1723 and the event now attracts around two million people a day on the streets.

Ben Fox, director of the bar, said: "We are having 20 Brazilian samba drummers, Brazilian samba dancers and capoeira dancers from 7.30pm to 9pm outside in the Palmyra Square. This is going to be free for the public and then there will be other performances in the bar after 9pm.

"The event is free all evening. The idea behind the event is to create more awareness of the Cultural Quarter."
