A FORMER Birchwood High School pupil is to relive the clubbing days of her youth after being inspired by her 40th birthday bash.

Freelance florist Sammy Dean is launching ‘A Very Important House Party’ at The Apartment in Bold Street on Saturday, September 13, and she is inviting people of all ages to join her on the dance floor.

The aim of the night is to salute the revellers who experienced the explosion of house music 25 years ago but who put away their dance shoes after starting families and careers.

Sam, from Grappenhall Heys, reckons those ‘Hacienda kids’ are keen to look back to their youth and if the event is a success it is set to be the first of many.

“I just want to bring a slice of the old vibe back.” said Sammy, who regularly went clubbing at Warrington’s Legends, worked in Ibiza and was a rep for house music in London.

“There’s a sense of unity bound up in house music that transcends time, and you either get it or you don’t.

“When you fill a room with people and you have amazing DJs and live performers to lead the journey as they see fit, magic happens. That’s why we’ve chosen the line-up we have for the launch night.”

The opening night will see Rob Tissera, Davos, DJ Ash and Adam Wilson all performing at The Apartment.

Rob is a regular at Ibiza and has been at the decks at Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound and Hacienda Self-taught keyboardist Davos comes to Warrington after his second consecutive year at Glastonbury and he will joined by DJ Ash, founder of the Northern Project and veteran of Fantazia and Bowlers.

Adam Wilson completes the line-up. The Institution and Palmyra regular is also well known for the Legends reunion events.

Sammy came up with the idea for ‘A Very Important House Party’ after she held her 40th birthday celebration at The Apartment.

“I was about to hang up my dancing shoes and held a party for my 40th,” she added.

“About 100 people came and said it was the best night out in ages – the bar staff said it was more like a club night than a birthday party. “I realised that in your 30s and 40s if you loved house music, it never leaves you.

“There has been a resurgence lately of old school nights and everyone seems to be coming out of the wood work. “There isn't anywhere really in Warrington for an older crowd, hence why I have started this night.

“I hope for it to be a quarterly event and I have lots of ideas I hope I can implement if it takes off.”
