UNRIVALLED views of Manchester and sweet treats were on the menu when I took a trip up memory lane to the 23rd floor of Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
Renowned for his afternoon tea, the chefs at Cloud 23 have decided to put a nostalgic twist on their food offering, which was a very wise decision indeed.
The service was faultless from the moment I stepped out of the lift and food was demolished within the hour.
The creativity behind each fine fancy was evident and the food was presented perfectly - too perfect to touch, almost.
The sweet accompaniments included a strawberry jam tart, corner shop 10p pick 'n' mix sweets with Fruit Salads, Black Jacks, Swizzle Lolly, jelly beans – all served in a traditional sweetie bag, lemon sherbet macaroons, chocolate button brownie cupcakes, chocolate vermicelli scones and bubblegum milkshake.
The savoury selection included a peanut butter sandwich, cheese and Branston on Hovis bread, hot dog and brioche split roll with ketchup and crispy onions, quiche Lorraine and mushroom vol-au-vent.
The Drumstick Fizz Wizz cocktail made sure experience ended on a high note.
Ingredients include Ketel One Vodka mixed with cranberries, blackberries and butterscotch served with popping candy.
If you fancy afternoon tea with a difference then try Cloud 23.
