FORGET Dancing In The Street. We were dancing in our seats when Martha Reeves and the Vandellas graced the stage at the Parr Hall on Sunday.

After three weeks in hospital, the night of Motown was just what the doctor ordered.

Martha and the girls were joined by a full live band who played all the favourites like Jimmy Mack and Heatwave.

The enthusiastic crowd were on their feet from the start to the finish and even joined in to sing happy birthday to the band's young guitarist.

But of course it was Martha's hit song, Dancing In The Street, which had everyone going.

She paid homage to all the stars who have covered the iconic song through the decades like Mick Jagger, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield and Marvin Gaye.

That led to a brilliant cover of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On which left the crowd stunned. You could hear a pin drop.

When Martha wasn't singing she had a natural rapport with the Warrington audience.

She was so gracious and nice and said she would take us all to Hitsville U.S.A where she made her name.

Martha also shared a lot of stories from her long career in the music business and wasn't shy about name dropping.

She said Paul McCartney recently popped in to play the piano at Hitsville.

After more than two hours of music, Martha and the Vandellas closed the show with a medley of Motown and a nod to Michael Jackson.

A fantastic evening which felt like a trip back in time.
