CHARLOTTE Crowson showed the LiveWire milers how to do it.

The nine-year-old, who has a prosthetic leg, tackled the run on Sunday with her family and friends as part of fundraising for Charlotte's Trust.

The trust was set up to help fund the best prosthetics for Charlotte who had her leg amputated below the knee after she was diagnosed with a rare cancer aged four.

Juliet Crowson, Charlotte’s mum said: “The whole family have had a fantastic day. My husband and I completed the English Half Marathon this morning and now we are watching our little girl complete the LiveWire Mile.

"The event has been great for Charlotte; she is setting a great example to show everyone that anyone can participate in sport no matter what. Between me, my husband, Charlotte and other family members taking part in half marathons throughout the country, we have raised a grand total of £5,000, it’s a really great achievement and we are grateful to everyone who has donated.”

The LiveWire Mile was a sell out with 600 runners of all ages taking part.

Andrea Morley, senior events and hospitality officer at LiveWire said: “There has been a brilliant buzz. There has been plenty to keep supporters busy such as craft making at the LiveWire tent, food and live music. All three races were completely sold out which proves how much the event has grown since last year. Here’s to a bigger and better year next year."
