HELEN Jones will be the Labour candidate in Warrington North again, the party has confirmed.

Labour told all serving MPs they would be able to stand in the snap General Election in June which is likely to be formally called today.

Party bosses said there was not time to give party members a vote.

Mrs Jones held an almost 9,000 seat majority at the last election in 2015.

Yesterday she said: "We will take on the Tories, whose record in Warrington North is appalling, and I am convinced we can win.

"I will fight the election on my record in the constituency."

Labour is currently looking for a candidate in Warrington South after Nick Bent, who lost out to Conservative David Mowat in the last two general elections, confirmed he was not looking to run for a third time.
