A COUPLE from Warrington were the first new housemates to enter this year's Big Brother house.

Lisa Appleton, aged 40 and 42-year-old Mario Marconi, both from Latchford, stepped out of the back of a black van earlier this evening in front of a lively crowd before walking up the steps to one of the country's most famous houses, in the hope of walking out £100,000 richer.

In footage shown during the audition process for the Channel 4 programme the couple donned Mrs Perfect and Mr Happy T-shirts and spoke about their relationship.

"It was love at first sight" Mario, said. "We're not the average couple, we are very extroverted."

On entering the house he said to Lisa: "We've done it babe."

It is not the first time the pair have been on TV - Mario appeared on another reality programme, where he had to spend time in an American jail.

After being joined by fellow housemates Luke and Stephanie the couple were thrown in at the deep end straight away with a secret mission.

They have been told by Big Brother that they would have to make their 12 other new housemates believe that they were not in a relationship and that Mario and 19-year-old Stephanie were in fact a couple.

If they suceed in not being detected the first four housemates will escape the first public vote to boot out a housemate, condeming the 12 other housemates to the eviction vote.

This year's show features 16 housemates battling it out for the top prize over 93 days, but contestants will have to face a zero tolerance approach from Big Brother with bad behaviour being punished by being sent to jail, or even worse, solitary confinement.
