Shafilea's relatives released from bail

EIGHT relatives of murdered schoolgirl Shafilea Ahmed have been released from police bail.

While the teenager's killer is still at large detectives cancelled their 18 month bail.

The group were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and their bail was renewed seven times.

The 17-year-old's body was discovered on the banks of the River Kent, near Kendal two years ago this week.

A spokesman for Warrington Police said: "Following legal advice the eight family members of Shafilea Ahmed have been released from police bail."

The family, a 32-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, two 34-year-old men and a 28-year-old woman, were arrested in September 2004.

A 55-year-old woman was arrested a month later.
