Town cup shot

A HEARTBREAKING 119th minute winner in a fantastic tie knocked Warrington Town out of the UniBond Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.

Town lost to higher division Radcliffe Borough 4-3 in extra-time at Cantilever Park but the end of one opportunity sparks another. All second round losers go into the President's Cup.

Danny Salt had put Warrington 3-2 ahead four minutes into the extra period but Borough had the stronger legs when it counted and came good at the death.

Iain Dyson netted twice for Town in normal time.

Manager Glenn Walker said: "It was a great game and I'm very proud of the players. We were the better side on the night and even Radcliffe conceded that. We were very committed and if we had been playing like that in the league we would be 10 to 15 points better off than we are now."
