LETTER: Could canal be used to generate hydroelectric power and prevent flooding?
I HAVE noticed that Sankey Brook has quite a good flow and wonder if it is possible to install two Archimedes Screw Generators just north of Cromwell Avenue.
One will cope with the flow when it is low and two can be used when the flow is larger.
They can be designed to provide electricity to Warrington and to create a floodplain upstream to help prevent flooding in Dallam and Callands.
It will be far more scenic than walls and raised banks and provide a tourist attraction.
