HAS anyone else noticed how dirty many of the road signs in Warrington are?
Some look like they have not been cleaned for years.
These pictures were taken on Cromwell Avenue, one of the town’s main thoroughfares, but could have been taken anywhere in Warrington.
Instead of spending money on a doomed bid for city status perhaps the council could set up a task force for cleaning these signs and cutting back the trees and branches that obscure them.
If – because of government cuts – the council can no longer afford to maintain these signs properly then perhaps willing parish councils could take on some of the responsibility.
The current state of many of these signs does not reflect well on the town.
Civic pride demands that something is done.
