I HAVE just had to pay a £60 fine to Warrington Borough Council because I drove twice down the new ‘bus gate’ in Scotland Road.
Probably lots of other motorists will have been caught out driving there by the security cameras. How can the council justify banning cars from Scotland Road in the centre of town? I have nothing against bus lanes in principle and always keep out of the one on Wilderspool Causeway but this ‘bus gate’ just seems like a crazy money-grabbing exercise.
It is impossible to drive down Scotland Road and avoid it, and there are no signs at the junction of Winwick Street and Scotland Road to say you can’t drive down Scotland Road. I urge motorists to avoid driving down Scotland Road and getting stung by the council like I was.
