I WONDER how many people are aware of the restrictions imposed on us by land-owning corporations in our town?
While happily taking photographs of interesting and unusual architecture around Warrington yesterday (as part of my daily exercise), I was approached by a quartet of G4S security personnel in Golden Square, as I was about to take a picture of the Barley Mow pub.
They asked me if I had written permission from the management company, allowing me to photograph buildings on their site.
To say that I was astounded at such a requirement would be an understatement, but they went on to tell me that I would need it before taking any further snapshots in that area – this includes the Alice In Wonderland statue.
I had not realised that citizens of Warrington now find themselves under the kind of restrictions one may expect to find in Russia or Myanmar.
