I FEEL it only proper to answer Mr Ralston’s letter in (Warrington Guardian, February 14).

I do reflect on the peace and stability since the formation of the EU but that only evolved because of Britain and America stopping a maniac, I dread to think what would have happened had he won, you mentioned the anniversary of Dresden. I don’t understand why. If you are saying it is a stain on our history I agree, all carpet bombing is horrific, but prior to that 40,000 of our citizens were killed by carpet bombing and at the end that was 60,000.

But you are absolutely right in your analogy, it is abhorrent to anyone.

Finally I personally wanted to leave the EU long before Cameron thought a referendum was a great idea.

I could fill a page as to my reasons why but I can absolutely assure you the likes of Davis, Johnson, or anyone else had nothing to do in persuading me into making my decision.

I have nothing but contempt for the way the Peoples Vote has been hijacked and turned into a circus for more than two years and I would, just like you, like to have a safe and coherent conclusion.

As far as Mr Barnier is concerned he may well be principled and I would probably buy him a pint, but it does not detract from the fact that he, Tusk and Junker and their string pullers Merkel, Macron and others want to give their friend and ally Britain a hard time and painful experience for having the audacity to leave.

The EU is filled to capacity with elected and unelected gravy train experts.

If our politicians found the time to sit down and evaluate the meaning of the word democracy we would just leave on WTO rules.
