I AM looking for information about my granddad’s brother, Thomas Gill, who died in the First World War.

We were informed that he was listed on the Menin gate at Ypres – he was a sergeant, aged 28, of Forshaw Street and the South Lancashire Regiment.

To my surprise a week later in the Warrington Guardian someone posted a memoriam to Thomas Gill, of Hoyle Street in Bewsey (Warrington Guardian, November 8).

He was aged 20 and in the South Lancashire Regiment.

After looking at this it turns out he was my grandfather’s brother born in Hoyle Street.

I would appreciate knowing who posted it to help with me looking into the family history.

While in France we also came across a John William Gill 200733 from Daresbury.

Any information would be appreciated.
