I HAVE a good story.
A serious situation where people and their properties were in danger for four days with little intervention from the police and the authorities.
Amazingly, it doesn’t seem to have been getting much recognition on the Warrington Police Twitter and Facebook groups among all the ‘successes’ they frequently broadcast.
They have even removed some of constructive comments.
In context, the reality of the situation was as follows.
Police and the authorities permitted a large group of people to assemble for four days directly behind private residential properties on Greenall’s Avenue.
The group indulged in a four-day rampage of verbal abuse, fouling, noise pollution and littering.
There were no arrests and no efforts beyond a ‘goodwill’ based vacation notice to move the group away from the residential properties.
The group eventually left on their own accord on Monday leaving residents and businesses with damaged property and the threat of a potential recurrence.
A clean-up operation is now required to remove large amounts of litter, human faeces and the remains of broken property from around the area.
