I AM writing to voice my concern that Warrington Borough Council has allowed the situation with the derelict rectory building opposite the Parr Arms in Grappenhall to reach this stage.
The building is a major eyesore in the village and I can’t help feeling sorry for the people attending St Wilfrid’s Church, especially newlyweds who on exiting the church have to look at a run down, unoccupied shell.
The building is not even adequately protected from vandalism.
There is an accident waiting to happen as youths have been seen in the grounds and on the roof.
The council wants us to have faith in them developing and implementing the much maligned local plan (PDO) when in fact the task of solving this problem seems beyond them.
