I ATTENDED a public consultation meeting at Stockton Heath library hosted by Livewire.
It is proposing to close most of the Warrington libraries including Stockton Heath and implied that there would be a library facility at Broomfields leisure centre.
As people started asking questions it turned out that all there would be at Broomfields is a book locker where you can pick up books ordered online – there will be no library facilities in south Warrington.
The meeting was well attended despite the fact that it was very poorly advertised and last minute and was held at 6pm which is virtually impossible for working people to attend.
LiveWire has not looked at alternatives such as charging a nominal fee of say £10 per user per year to help fund this important community asset.
