I READ with astonishment the article in last week’s Warrington Guardian (January 21) about the £1 million wasted by the NHS in Warrington through GPs prescribing pain killers, sun lotion and other products for minor injuries and sprains and strains.
This is simply unbelievable that should be allowed to happen when finances in the NHS are at breaking point.
No doubt most of the people who benefited from these freebies were the benefit lifestylers who live their parasite existence but I bet they made sure they had enough money for their fags, booze and drugs.
But lets hold those who are responsible for this waste of public money to account.
The GPs who issued the prescription in the first place.
These GPs should be made to repay the prescription fee out of their own pockets for their irresponsible actions.
It is sickening that they allowed this huge waste of financial waste to happen.
