HAVING just seen Alan Domville’s tribute to the late Pat Gill Bolton, I was amazed to read that the chaps in the production department used to whistle the national anthem when she came by.
A colleague in the features department at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph in the late 1960s used to have a tape recorder in his desk drawer on which he had God Save The Queen copied.
He played it whenever she came into the office. Needless to say, it was water off a duck’s back.
