DANIEL Okoro’s move to Warrington Wolves has now been officially confirmed.

Last night, the Warrington Guardian revealed a deal to bring the powerful prop to the club from Bradford Bulls was close, with The Wire having stolen a march on several Super League clubs to move into pole position for his signature.

Now, it has been confirmed the 20-year-old has penned a three-and-a-half year deal with the club and joins Sam Burgess’ squad immediately.

It is thought he will be available for selection in the coming weeks as he completes his recovery from a jaw injury sustained while playing for the Bulls.

Okoro – a Nigeria international who stands at 6ft 4ins tall and tips the scales at 16 stone – has caught the eye at Odsal having made the move there midway through last season from Hull KR, where he came through the youth ranks.

He also spent loan spells at Hunslet and Newcastle during his professional career to date but now, he is looking forward to making The Halliwell Jones Stadium his home and working under Burgess.

“I’m really excited to be joining Warrington - the energy around the place is great and I’ve been made to feel at home from day one," he said.

“It’s a massive club and to be working under Sam Burgess is huge for me. As a middle there’s no one better to be coached by.

"The passion he can instil in you and the defensive skills are number one.

“I can’t wait now to play in front of the fans here.”

Burgess added: “Dan is an exciting young prop with a lot of potential and the right attitude to move up into Super League.

“He will add value to our pack and I’m excited to see his progression.”

Okoro takes the number 37 shirt at The Wire.
