MATTY Russell suffered an injury blow in the second game of his loan spell at Hull FC.

The winger is now set to return to Warrington Wolves for treatment having sustained a torn pectoral muscle during the early stages of the Black and Whites’ loss to Catalans Dragons on Saturday evening.

The severity of the tear is currently unclear but even in a best-case scenario, Russell is facing several weeks on the sidelines.

Russell’s initial two-week loan deal with Tony Smith’s side had been due to expire after the game in Perpignan regardless, but the injury blow appears almost certain to rule out an extension.

Prop Joe Bullock and hooker Brad Dwyer are out on similar deals, with the former also at Hull FC and the latter at Leigh Leopards and both deals are set to be reviewed this week.

Bullock came off the bench for Hull at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, making 37 metres from five carries and busting two tackles in the process. In defence, he made 12 tackles without a miss.

Dwyer started at dummy-half for the Leopards as they raced into a 16-0 lead at home against Leeds Rhinos before losing 22-16.

He made 34 metres from six carries and also made 34 tackles but came up with seven misses.
