SAM Burgess’ first Super League game in charge of Warrington Wolves will involve a trip across the English Channel.

It has now been confirmed that The Wire will kick off the 2024 season in Perpignan with clash against this year’s Grand Final runners-up Catalans Dragons.

The game takes place at the Stade Gilbert Brutus on Saturday, February 17, and will kick off at 5.30pm UK time (6.30pm local time) live on Sky Sports.

Next year will be the second time Warrington have opened a Super League campaign in France – they were beaten 20-12 by the Dragons in Round One of the 2017 season, Tony Smith’s last in charge.
