PETER Mata’utia has escaped a ban following his sin-binning during Warrington Wolves’ defeat to Hull KR on Friday.
The centre was penalised for a high tackle on KR full-back Lachlan Coote during the 30-22 loss to the Robins at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Referee Jack Smith showed Mata'utia a yellow card, with Coote requiring a head injury assessment as a result of the tackle before later returning to the field.
However, the Match Review Panel have deemed the sin-binning to be sufficient punishment – they declared Mata’utia had made initial contact with Coote’s body before a flailing arm caught him in the face.
Rovers’ Elliot Minchella has also escaped a ban after seeing yellow for a professional foul in the second half, but there is one charge stemming from Friday’s game.
Hull KR’s Korbin Sims has been charged with a Grade B late tackle following an incident in the closing stages and has been handed a one-match penalty notice.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants – The Wire’s next opponents – look set to be without veteran centre Leroy Cudjoe for Saturday’s game at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Following his side’s defeat to Catalans Dragons on Saturday, Cudjoe has been hit with a Grade B dangerous contact charge, which carries a one-match penalty notice.
