RELIEF was the overriding emotion for Wire supporters after their side pinched an opening-day win at Leeds Rhinos.
Against a side down to 12 men for much of the game following James Bentley's red card, The Wire trailed for much of the game until Connor Wrench's late winning try.
Here's some of what fans have been saying in comments on our website and on social media
Warrington Guardian website
Wire o wire: One of the worst performances I've seen. The best team lost. Please no excuses from the management, there are too many players in the team not up to the required standard for super league.
Parry gordon: I think we mugged them in the end, we gave to much ball up early in the tackle count , cut those mistakes out we would of beaten Leeds comfortably , my biggest worry is our forwards look lightweight
Cheap Mower: End of the season we need to recruit new props, Cooper has been great for us the last few years but is now past his prime. Philbin hasn't become what he hoped he would, both too light weight
@WarringtonRLFC gfest win today, though win but if we play like this every game its gonna be a hard season. But we were lucky Holmes didn't get sent off. #itsouryear

What a tense game, what a way for @WarringtonRLFC to win didn’t quite click into gear but just managed to scrape. Good way for @C4Sport to start their coverage! #SLLeeWar

Will take it. Away at a team I think will do well this year and played very well defensively today. Warrington performance full of mistakes, not a lot of organization and a lot of daft penalties. Thought our goal line defence was immense though. Can only get better. COYW💛💙

Never in doubt @WarringtonRLFC !!

Wins a win but not impressed, looking weak in forwards struggled to get out of our own half most the time scored some good tries but rubbish goal line defence conceding 2 soft tries in first half, much to work on though early days #wire
