MATT Davis, Sitaleki Akauola and Toby King are doubts for Warrington Wolves’ trip to Castleford Tigers on Thursday.

Akauola was due to start this afternoon’s 20-19 win over Salford Red Devils but dropped out after picking up an injury in the warm-up.

Youngster Tom Whitehead replaced him in the 17 and appeared set for his senior debut, but he did not make it off the bench in the dramatic encounter at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Davis was replaced shortly after half time while King took a blow to the shoulder but finished the game with some heavy strapping.

All three will be checked upon during the week but with the trip to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle just five days away and the play-offs less than a fortnight from now, anybody who is less than 100 per cent fit is unlikely to be risked.

“Sitaleki hurt his ankle in the warm-up. We’ll get a check on that,” head coach Steve Price said.

“It was an opportunity for Tom Whitehead to come into the team – he’s a young kid who’s got a bright future ahead of him.

“I see him being a really good player for the club.

“You’ve got to earn your stripes. We don’t give token debuts out.

“He’s heading in the right direction but he wasn’t quite ready today.

“Matty Davis – I’m not quite sure. It looked like something around the bicep/shoulder area. We’ll get a scan on that in the coming days.

“Toby King got a bit of a bang early and he did really well to stay out there for the full 80.”

Chris Hill and Jake Mamo were rested despite being named in the 21-man squad while Mike Cooper, Daryl Clark, Danny Walker and Joe Philbin missed out altogether.
