A NEW, girls-only cricket course is about to launch in Warrington.
The Dynamos Cricket course, run in conjunction with Grappenhall Cricket Club, will give girls aged between eight and 11 the chance to get involved in the game in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Weekly sessions will run on Friday evenings – starting on May 8 – at Grappenhall’s Broad Lane home ground between 6.45pm and 7.45pm.
Open to any girls across Warrington, the programme is designed to introduce young players to cricket through engaging sessions that build confidence, skills and enjoyment of the game while also attempting to create a strong pathway for female players.
The new course follows the recent establishment of the Grappenhall Cricket Academy, which is being led by former England spin bowler Steve Parry, as a further strengthening of the club’s junior offering.
“We’re really excited to launch our girls-only Dynamos course and open the doors to even more young people from across Warrington,” club chairman Paul Birch said.
“This is about creating a fun first experience of cricket, while also showing that there is a genuine long-term pathway for girls and ladies within the club.
“The launch is another important step in our commitment to junior cricket and builds on the momentum created by the announcement of the Steve Parry Academy.
“We want Grappenhall to be a place where young players can start their journey, develop their skills and see a future for themselves in the game.
“We are also pleased to welcome enquiries from new players looking to join our under 13s, under 15s, under 19s and senior teams as we continue to strengthen cricket opportunities across the club.”

As Mr Birch says, the club are also seeking players to join their established age group teams ahead of the 2026 season, which begins next month.
