A STUNNING century from Tom MacRury helped Grappenhall Cricket Club return to winning ways on Saturday.

The New Zealander, who is in his second season at Broad Lane, blasted a superb 122 from just 71 balls as Grappers set visitors Neston an imposing victory target of 276.

Neston were in the game at 167-2, but the home bowlers then started to make breakthroughs and dismissed their opponents for 203 to secure a 72-run victory, with Adam Roylance doing the most damage by claiming six wickets.

The seconds enjoyed an even more dominant victory as they hammered hosts Bramhall by 205 runs.

Batting first, impressive knocks from Will Fell (87), Ross Arrowsmith (71) and skipper Graeme Rowlands (63) helped Grappers post 287-7 from their 50 overs – a target Bramhall were never in serious danger of reaching.

Stanley Pennington (4-29) and Fameesh Azeez (3-13) starred with the ball as the hosts were skittled for just 82 in response.

The thirds put up a good fight in their pursuit of 215 for victory at Marple, eventually falling 30 runs short as they finished on 185-6 with Iain Wright top-scoring with 83 after 15-year-old Zach Pomfret had earlier picked up his first senior five-wicket haul with the ball.

A much-changed first team were then knocked out of the Cheshire Cup on Sunday as they were beaten by five wickets at Elworth having been bowled out for 161 in the first innings, with Will Fell and Arav Shetty both getting into the 30s.
