THE vast majority of the squad that helped Warrington Town to a top-half finish in their debut National League North season will be back next season.

However, the futures of some key squad members including leading goalscorer Isaac Buckley-Ricketts remain unclear.

Town have today confirmed seven first-team players had agreed terms to remain at Cantilever Park for the 2024-25 campaign.

Skipper Josh Amis is among them although he is set to miss the early weeks of the new season as he is due to undergo shoulder surgery over the summer.

Defenders Peter Clarke, Dec Walker, Andy White, Tom Hannigan and Evan Gumbs and forward Matty Grivosti have all agreed terms while four players were already under contract in the shape of recently-crowned club player of the year Connor Woods, supporters’ player of the year Dan Atherton and midfielders Jay Harris and Matty McDonald.

An offer has been made to Buckley-Ricketts, who netted 15 goals during 2023-24 as Yellows finished 12th in the table, and defender Andre Wisdom but the club say they will respect both players’ desire to play higher up the pyramid should that opportunity arise.

Midfielder Sean Williams, who passed the 200-appearance mark for Town during the campaign, is also still in negotiations with the club about fresh terms while the hunt for new signings to bolster the squad is underway.

The club have also confirmed that three members of their promotion-winning under 21s side have been invited to join the first-team squad for pre-season training.

Sam Gill and Adam Brooks both made National League North appearances during the season while Connor McCauley scored four goals in the under 21s’ promotion-clinching 5-3 victory over Athletico de Brave at the weekend.

Fellow youngsters Deacon Smalley and Paddy Kay, who spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Nantwich Town, have also been invited to pre-season training along with under 18s midfielder Vini Desouza.

Season ticket details and the team's pre-season friendly schedule are set to be announced in the coming weeks, with the squad due to regather for training at the end of June.
