LUKE Littler suffered his first EuroTour defeat last night as his winning run against Luke Humphries was brought to an end.
Since the world number one beat the Warringtonian teenager in January’s epic World Darts Championship final, the 17-year-old former Padgate Academy pupil had won all seven of his matches against Humphries going into the pair’s second-round meeting at the European Darts Grand Prix in Germany on Saturday night.
However, Humphries prevailed, surviving a final leg match dart and enjoying an 11-dart break in the decider to win 6-5 advance to the last 16.
While Humphries moves onto a third-round clash with Stephen Bunting in Sindelfingen on Sunday afternoon, Littler will now switch his focus to Night 13 of the Premier League Darts in Liverpool on Thursday.
Littler had looked in ominous form in his first-round match on Friday evening as he looked to back up his victory in the Belgian Darts Open – his maiden EuroTour event.
He thrashed German debutant Arno Merk 6-0 in a ruthless display which saw him average 101 and conjure up 146 and 148 checkouts.
