THERE will be no back-to-back Players Championship success in Wigan for Warrington’s Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler.

The 17-year-old, winner of the first ProTour event of 2024 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre yesterday, went out in the second round of today’s action.

Littler took out a superb 110 finish to seal a superb 6-4 victory over former UK Open champion Danny Noppert to reach the last 64 of day two.

But he was not able to get past Polish-born Ireland resident Radek Szaganski in his second game of the day, bowing out 6-5.

Former world champion Gary Anderson won the title with an 8-5 win over Ryan Searle, the same player whom Littler had beaten in the final on Monday to win his £15,000.

Anderson was on blistering form, recording a career-high 117.12 average in his first round win over Andy Baetens and missing double 12 for a nine-darter on three occasions during the day.

On a happier note for Littler today, he received silver and gold pin badges from the Professional Darts Corporation marking his nine-dart finishes in Wigan yesterday and Bahrain last month.
