A FOOTBALL coach is approaching the end of his 5k every day challenge which is raising money for new powerchairs for a club.

Orford-based Tom Dore has been running come rain or shine to fund new chairs for Sale United Powerchair Football Club.

On Sunday, Lymm Rovers held a celebration for Tom with lots of players, parents, coaches and managers across the junior and adult teams turning out to join him and cheer him on for run number 351. Sale United’s players were there for the celebration too.

Tom described it as ‘hands down the best one of the year’ and was ‘very appreciative’ of all the support.

The 29-year-old manages the adult men’s team at Rovers and his coaching business, Dynamic Sports Coaching, works with lots of players across the junior section in Lymm.

Tom said: “I am very pleased to be closing in on the final days of my running challenge. It's not been easy by any means balancing this with coaching and other commitments, but it has all been worth it to raise money for a fantastic cause.

“Now Sale United Powerchair Football Club has one new chair to play the game we all love and we are on the way to a second one. I'm very proud of that.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and continues to do so. Sunday was a lovely celebration of the effort so far and it was great to see such a good turnout! Only a few more runs to go."
