YOUNG drivers will be hoping to make their mark on home soil next month when the British Indoor Karting Championships are staged in Warrington.

TeamSport’s newly renovated track, located at Bank Quay Trading Estate off Slutcher’s Lane, will welcome the cream of the country’s blossoming talent on November 11 and among them will be some from TeamSport Warrington’s own production line.

Eskild Hewitt, Charlie France, James Vout and Jake Anders will be looking to make their mark on their home track.

Bridgewater High School student Eskild, 12, will be featuring in the exciting showdown.

His dad Silje said all the Warrington racers have done amazingly this year and added: “Eskild has only been karting for a year and has now won both the local final and the regional final in the cadet class.”

Eskild’s brother Leander may also be one to watch for in the future as he came seventh in the regionals after only a few months of racing.

Another local starlet in the national final after following a similar qualification route is Culcheth High School student Charlie, 12.

His mum Joanne said: “This is his first year competing in the junior category, which is for 12 to 15-year-olds. He is the youngest in the age category and up against some brilliant drivers from across the country.

“To qualify for the local championship was an achievement, but to come second at regionals out of so many drivers was amazing.

“He potentially may be the youngest driver to go through to nationals (in his age group) and to win it on home ground would be a dream come true and push his karting career further.”

James, 10, a student at Locking Stumps Primary School, will be the youngest local qualifier in the cadet category (ages 8 to 12) and is the only one of the four from Warrington to have also reached the national finals last year, which was his first attempt.

His dad Tom said: "James has been racing karts both indoors and outdoors for a year and a half and he loves the thrill of racing and the friendships he has made with the other drivers."

Jake, 13, from Burtonwood, who is home schooled and competes in the junior category, has 'progressed very well' since starting karting around two years ago.

His dad Phillip said: "He won his local final at TeamSport Preston, then he finished third in Stockton TeamSport to progress through.

"Jake is the current lap record holder at TeamSport Warrington and the current Chase The Ace champion at Warrington.

"He is leading a national championship called Total Karting Zero, it’s run by ex-Formula 1 engineer and team boss Rob Smedley. Jake's also currently placed fourth in the Club 100 National Championship with one race to go.

"Jake believes he is going to win the British Indoor Karting Championships at Warrington. In his words 'no one is beating me around my own track.'

"We are actively pursuing a sponsor to come on board and really help us take our racing to the next level."
