WARRINGTON-BORN footballer David Brooks hit another milestone in his return from fighting cancer last night.

Having notched his first Premier League goal since returning to the game for AFC Bournemouth recently, the Woolston-born midfielder did the same on the international stage for Wales last night.

Brooks came off the bench to replace injured captain Aaron Ramsey in Wales’ Euro 2024 qualifier against Latvia last night, and rounded off the scoring with a delicate chip in injury time to secure a 2-0 victory in Riga.

That came just nine days after the former Birchwood Community High School pupil netted his first goal since his return as he scored for Bournemouth in their 2-2 Premier League draw at Brentford on September 2.

Brooks was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma back in September 2021 but after extensive treatment, he made his return to the Bournemouth side as a substitute in their game against Aston Villa in March.
