JAMES Guy and the gang are back together and making their country proud again.

The 27-year-old won gold with the Great Britain 4x200m freestyle relay team in the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, this afternoon.

For Guy, a former pupil of Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School and Cardinal Newman High School in Warrington, and his teammates Duncan Scott, Matt Richards and Tom Dean they have now added the world title to their Olympic crown of Tokyo 2020.

Former Warrington Junior Sports Personality of the Year winner Guy and Scott were missing from the line-up when the team could only finish sixth in last year’s world championships but together again the quartet proved to be too hot to handle for the Americans and Australians.

Richards, who won GB’s only other gold medal of this event so far in the individual 200m on Tuesday, put the team in front in the second leg.

Guy took over and held on to first place, leaving Olympic champion Dean to hold off the USA challenge by 00.94 secs as an overall time of 6mins 59.08secs was registered.
