WARRINGTON will once again play host to a big-hitting golf competition this weekend.

The British Long Drive Championships will see the longest hitters in Europe battle it out for the title at Alder Root Golf Club on Sunday.

Those competing will be aiming to hit the longest distance possible down the club’s 9th/18th hole – a par five of more than 500 yards.

It is the second consecutive year the Winwick club has hosted the tournament, with Welshman Bry Roberts taking last year’s title with a drive of 432 yards.

The competition runs from 8am to 8pm, with free entry for spectators wishing to watch the action.

There will be a barbecue and a bar in operation, with limited numbers of hospitality places available at a cost of £50 per person – call 01925 291919 to enquire.
