BOWLS:

THE Padgate Tennis & Bowling Club will host one of the qualifying rounds of the Lancashire Senior Individual Merit bowls competition tomorrow, starting at 10.30am.

There are eight venues throughout the county and the top 2 players from each venue will go through to the finals.

There should be some excellent bowling to watch and spectators are welcome. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

MARTIAL ARTS:

Meanwhile, children from all over the North of England and Scotland took part in the annual Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Northern Championships in Penrtih, Cumbria at the weekend with the team from Warrington bringing home lots of medals.

Chief Instructor Steve James said: “ I am so so proud of everyone that entered, for some it was their first competition and to show so much confidence was really great to see.”

The students competed in drills which included kicking techniques, hand coordination moves and light contact sparring.

All the students from the Great Sankey School, which is based in Barrowhall Primary School, were: Navneeth Vishwanath, Joshua Connor, Alfred Astall, Saatvik Bahl, Lauren Thwaites, Mikko Mancao, Rimmiel Mancao, Marianne Mancao, Thomas Wilson, Darsh Tandon, Quinn Carter, Harrison Woods, Rupert Haughton, Aiden Street and Finn Douglas.
