CROSFIELDS have confirmed Matty Wilson as their new head coach.

Following Dave Boden's decision to stand down from the role, Soap have acted quickly to fill the position as they aim to build on a positive 2021 season.

Boden will remain as part of Wilson's coaching structure at Hood Lane alongside Phil Brazendale.

Soap finished top of the regionalised League C in this year's National Conference League, which was adapted to work around Covid restrictions.

Now, chairman Mike Donnison believes they have made the right appointment to allow them to take that success further.

“Matty first came to our attention a few years ago, but at the time felt he wasn’t quite ready for us," he said.

"But we have kept an eye on his progress and when the opportunity came up again, we knew that Matty would be one of those we would look at for the role.”

“The interview went very well and the committee were unanimous in Matty’s appointment.

“Matty has plenty of experience coaching in the Warrington area and the coaching structure he wants to put in place is very much on the same lines as the committee wanted.

“The team performed exceptionally well in the 2021 season and it has set the platform to build further in 2022.

"With Matty, Dave and Phil on board, I believe we have the coaching team in place to achieve that build.”
